Hey hey hey! Long time no chat! At least it feels like it. This weekend was a whirlwind! How is it already the start of a new week?
My mom and I went to Chicago for a weekend mother-daughter getaway! Mothers Day was on Sunday so we always go to Chicago every year for a girls trip! I’ve been to Chicago numerous times but there’s always something new to discover!
Our first stop was Sprinkles Cupcakes. I had never tried their cupcakes and wanted to see the cupcake ATM! Let me tell you, these were the best cupcakes I’ve EVER had! I’m not a usual red velvet fan but now I am. They have the best red velvet ever with cream cheese frosting! YUM!
Sprinkles Cupcakes is right downtown near Michigan Ave, so what did we do next? SHOP of course! Let me warn you now if you’ve never been to Chicago, be sure to pack your walking shoes. We walked over 5 miles in less than a full day!
Michigan Ave also known as the Magnificant Mile, is loaded with shops! Many of the shops are chains but some are unique! There are also multiple malls along the Magnificant Mile that we stopped at. Some of the stores we chose to browse around in were: Sephora, TjMaxx, Marshalls, Gap, Under Armour, Louis Vuitton, Macy’s, Nordstrom, and so many more!
My mom and I love TjMaxx and Marshalls, so a lot of time was spent at those stores. The ones we went to were connected, one upstairs and one downstairs. They. Were. HUGE!
After a long day of shopping, we checked into our hotel. We always stay at Hotel Monaco in downtown Chicago. We love it because of its location, wine hour, river view, and parking package.
This particular stay was right after they remodeled. I fell in love with their remodeled bathrooms.
For dinner, we had our favorite, Giordano’s deep dish pizza! It’s the best pizza around Chicago! We had a “the special” pizza and a side salad with house dressing. By the end of the night, we were exhausted.
On Sunday (Mothers Day), we stopped at a little diner called Blondies before heading home. I can’t wait until our next trip to Chicago!
