Are your high-end bags in need of a deep cleaning? Are you afraid you might damage them if you clean them yourself?
You’ve come to the right place! This article will help you SAFELY clean your high-end items!
Over the years of my love for high-end items, I couldn’t afford a brand new item, so I would buy used items and clean them to make them as good as NEW!
Here are some of my favorite tips and tricks to make your item look brand new.
BRASS/METAL CLEANING
For cleaning Brass I have two methods I recommend. The first method is using Brasso Multipurpose Metal Polish. The best way to use this is to put a very small amount on a Q-tip. Gently rub the Brasso on the metal that needs to be cleaned. Rub the Q-tip back and forth to remove dirt and debris. You will need to use multiple Q-tips. Once the item is clean, make sure you remove all of the Brasso. If there is still a residue on the metal, dampen a clean Q-tip with water and rub the residue off.
The second method for Brass cleaning is using a polishing cloth such as this one, Sunshine® Polishing Cloths. This cloth already has polish in it, all you need to do it rub the dry cloth gentle on the parts of the metal that needs to be clean. The cloth will turn black with dirt and debris. This is a sign that the metal is being cleaned! Continue to rub the cloth on the areas that need cleaning, until the metal is like new! *Do not rub too hard when cleaning.
LEATHER CLEANING
Leather cleaning needs to be done very carefully, or you may damage the leather. If the leather is very dirty, you may need to clean it several times before it comes clean. The first step is to use KIWI Saddle Soap. To use this, wet a washcloth and ring it out so it is damp. Rub the damp washcloth into the saddle soap until a small amount it on the washcloth (remember you can always add more).
Apply the saddle soap to the leather and gently rub in circular motions. Do not rub too hard or you may damage the leather. Repeat this step until the dirt is removed, use a clean part of the washcloth each time you dip back into the saddle soap. After you have cleaned the leather, make sure you use a leather lotion or conditioner. Saddle soap can dry out leather during the cleaning process.
Sometimes you have to do this process several times if the bag is extremely dirty. Remember, with Louis Vuitton Vachette, you cannot lighten the leather. You can only remove the dirt.
ZIPPER CLEANING
Cleaning zippers can be hard because of all the grooves. The best way to accomplish this is to use a metal polishing cloth (recommended above). Rub the polishing cloth across the zipper back and forth. Make sure you use a clean part of the cloth each time. Continue gently rubbing until no dirt is coming off onto the cloth. Once the zipper is clean, use a damp washcloth and rub back and forth on the zipper to remove the polishing cloth residue, and BOOM your zipper is clean!
CANVAS CLEANING
My favorite way to clean canvas such as Louis Vuitton monogram canvas is to use baby wipes. I know it sounds simple, but make sure you are using scent-free, alcohol-free baby wipes. If your canvas needs some shine, try using these Leather Wipes. Slowly rub the wipe all over the canvas, then remove the excess with a clean towel. This will add a sheen back to your beautiful bag!
