Have you ever purchased an item, wear it or use it one or twice and then decide your over it? It happens to me all the time. The fact is, our style, wants, and needs are always changing, and that’s OK! There is a way for you to sell your old items you no longer want for CASH!
4 years ago I created an account on Poshmark (@midnightkeke). First, I created my account only to sell a few items, buy a few items, and that was it. I never imagined I could sell over $4,000 worth of items, and now have a following of 244K!
Below are my tips on how YOU can make money from selling your items you no longer want or need.
Now, before we get started it’s important to know that everyone’s journey with Poshmark is different, and success may not happen overnight. But I believe, with time and commitment, you can be successful!
- Take Good Quality Pictures- Make sure when you take photos, you have good lighting and a plain backdrop. The item needs to be visible and an accurate representation of color. I always try to take photos in the daylight near a window OR use artificial light. The best artificial light in my opinion is light bulbs that are labeled as “daylight”. These can be found at any local store. Lay the product flat or hang it ( I always lay it flat). Take multiple photos that show the item and the brand.
- Brand Matters- This can be annoying, but the Brand DOES matter when reselling items. If it’s a good quality piece that you paid a good amount for, chances are, it will sell better. I’ve learned that its worth spending money on a quality piece because if you decide you don’t want it/like it anymore, it probably will resell for a good price. Over the years I have purchased so many purses, wallets, etc. and resold a lot of them for near the price I purchased them for.
- Sharing/Following- On Poshmark, It’s important to share other peoples items from their closet. In return, they will share your items, which will reach users that are not following you. The goal is to get your item shared and seen by as many users as you can, to increase your chance of selling. When I first started Poshmark I shared and followed SO MANY PEOPLE and ITEMS. My fingers hurt. But it DOES pay off.
- Shipping- In order for your closet on Poshmark to be rated high, you need to ship nice and fast. Pack your item securely, use tissue paper/ribbon and include a thank you card. Buyers always rate your item and shipping time matters. The faster you ship, the faster the customer will receive the item.
