We all need some time to relax, unwind, and pamper ourselves. Usually, I spend time doing face masks or relaxing in a lavender bath to unwind at home. While relaxing at home is nice, it’s even nicer to get away to relax.
I had my first ever experience at Sundara Inn & Spa, and let me tell you, it was amazing. Sundara Inn & Spa is an adult-only and electronics free spa. I’m so excited that I had the opportunity to collaborate with Sundara Spa to share my experience with you!
Sundara Spa is located just 3 hours from Chicago, IL and less than an hour from Madison, WI. If you live in the midwest, or travel often, this is the spa to visit. Sundara is a destination spa with overnight lodging as well. The location of the spa is tucked away in an 80-acre pine forest near Wisconsin Dells. It’s a truly beautiful location.
Before all spa treatments, guests experience a purifying bath ritual.
The bath ritual is in a common area much like an indoor pool, it is not a private bath. The ritual is a 5 step, self-guided cleansing experience for the mind and body. This was one of my favorite parts of the experience. I found it to be so relaxing for my body and really got me in the spa mindset.
The first step in the bath ritual is a rainfall shower and exfoliation using the Sundara Sandstone body polish. This body polish has an amazing aroma and left my skin feeling baby soft. After the rainfall shower, you spray yourself with a soothing body mist (that also smells amazing) before heading into the steam room. They recommend you stay in the steam room for 10 minutes but I think I only lasted about 5.
Once you’re out of the steam room, you cool yourself down with another rainfall shower before heading into the essential oil infused hot pool. The hot pool is similar to a hot tub but with essential oil aromas and fewer chemicals.
To improve circulation, after the hot pool you take a brief dip into the cool plunge pool. I found this very refreshing. You are able to move from the hot pool to the cool plunge as you like, there is no time limit. I spent roughly 30 minutes practicing the bath ritual.
Sundara has many lounge areas with coffee, tea, water, and snacks free of additional charge. They also have bathrooms, changing rooms, and showers for guest use.
Before my facial, I spent a good amount of time in the Radiance Room relaxing and munching on granola.
I received the “Fountain of Youth Vitamin C Facial” while at the spa. This treatment was a 50 min long facial to brighten, tighten, and nourish the skin.
I had never gotten a facial before this one. The experience of the facial was perfect. The room was dimly lit, the esthetician was very calm and knowledgeable, and the bed was heated and comfortable.
After the facial, my skin was left feeling so soft and hydrated. I would definitely recommend Vitamin C Facial. To finish up my spa experience, I headed to the Salt Treatment Therapy room. This room was beautiful.
Sundara describes this treatment as “Salt (or halotherapy) in naturally occurring salt caves in Europe has long been favored for its calming and detoxifying qualities.ย Itโs also said to improve respiratory function and rejuvenate the skin.”
I spent 45 min in this room. I loved how calm and relaxing it was. You could definitely tell there was salt in the air. You could almost taste it when you took a deep breath, but nothing overwhelming. Salt is widely known for it’s healing properties so I’m glad I got the chance to experience this.
Before heading out, I got a bite to eat at Sundara’s Nava Restaurant. I decided on the Fish Tacos, and they were divine!
If you are traveling to the midwest soon, or you live nearby, it is a must to experience Sundara Spa. I cannot wait to go back and to tell others all about it. You always need to spend some time on yourself and relax your mind and body. Sundara is a perfect way to do just that.
