Are you thinking of starting a blog or just did? I was there less than a year ago.
I’m no expert by any means. But, I do have 5 tips that will help you succeed.
Throughout the process of becoming a blogger, it takes a lot of time, energy, money, and so much more. Everyone’s blogging process and path are different and unique. My biggest piece of advice is to listen to your gut, follow your own path and chase your dream. Don’t compare yourself to anyone, it’s easy to do in the blogging world but I always remember this quote: “Do not compare your life to others. There is no comparison between the moon and the sun, they shine when it’s their time.”
I started my blog as a creative outlet. I have several passions that are very different from each other.
One passion of mine is teaching, and as you may know, I’m a Kindergarten teacher. My everyday job as a teacher fulfills my passion for young children and helping them grow. However, I wanted to create a place to express my other passions. So, I created my blog. My blog is my outlet to fulfill my passion for fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Now that you know my short story, I want to help you create yours. I have 5 tips for new bloggers.
- Just start. Go for it. For years I watched YouTubers, bloggers, and influencers online and wanted to start my own. For some reason, I didn’t do it because I doubted myself. I didn’t think I could do it. I think everyone has some feeling of doubt when they start something. It’s normal. But not many people push themselves to just go for it. That’s what you need to do. Just go for it. See where it takes you, try your best, and start! Starting is the hardest part.
- Reach out to people. Build a community. Even if your not an outgoing person (I’m not!), you should try your best to make connections with other bloggers. Whether it’s other bloggers in your town, your niche, or other bloggers who are just starting out. I have met some amazing people and built great relationships from this blogging world. One of my biggest supporters has been Jasmine. She is from the same area as me and has a Lifestyle & Beauty blog. I cannot tell you how much I’ve learned from connecting with her.
- Tailwind. Tailwind. Tailwind. Tailwind is a scheduler tool that has helped me grow my Pinterest and blog traffic so much. It’s simple to use and pins your content for you. Through this app, I have grown my Pinterest to over 200K monthly viewers. You can get one free month of Tailwind here.
- Engage in Social Media. This too can be time-consuming but worth it. When I first started my blog, I didn’t have every form of social media. But it is important to expand your social media to more than just Facebook or IG. Think of it as free advertising. The more social media outlets you have, the more chance your blog will be seen. Also, engage with others who are bloggers, fans, or interested in the same niche your interested in.
- Be Consistent. Set Goals. This one is the hardest for me and one that I am working on myself. Life happens. It’s not always easy to plan content or to have time to sit down and focus on your blog posts. Think about what works best for your situation. Having a planner and a notebook is a way that I keep all of my thoughts together. One way to be consistent is to set goals for yourself. It helps you see your progress and how far you’ve come. You should include in your goals how you are going to be consistent.
So there you have it. My 5 tips for new bloggers. If you are a new blogger reading this, I would love to connect with you. Feel free to reach out on social media or leave a comment below!
